Hello everyone, I’m Tajrin Jahan, from Bangladesh, a small country in South Asia. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Forestry for Green Sustainable Development at Linnaeus University. My academic background is in Agriculture, and I chose forestry because I love being around forests and nature.

Bangladesh faces challenges related to deforestation, which inspired me to learn more about sustainable forest management. That’s one of the reasons I chose Sweden, and specifically Linnaeus University. Växjö is known as one of Europe’s greenest cities, while around 70% of Sweden’s land area is covered by forest. I’m fascinated by how Sweden uses forest resources sustainably, including the widespread use of wood in construction.

One of the best parts of my programme is the field week every semester, where we visit different forest areas. Currently, I’m doing my research on spruce seedlings. Painting is one of my favourite hobbies. My future plan is to become a researcher. I wanted to become a student ambassador because I enjoy making new friends, learning about different cultures, and, of course, helping others.
