Hej Hej!

I’m Punsisi, originally from Sri Lanka, and I’m currently living in Kalmar with my family while studying Business Administration with a specialisation in Tourism and Marketing at Linnaeus University.

My journey to Sweden has definitely not been a straight line. Before becoming a student at LNU, I worked in tourism, hospitality, HR and training, lived and worked in Dubai for several years, and later went on to run my own cafe in Sri Lanka. So, going back to university and starting a completely new chapter of life in Sweden has been a great big adventure for me.

When I say a new chapter, I really mean it! I’ve had to get used to Swedish weather, learn a new language, understand a completely different education system, and figure out everyday life in a new country, all while being a mum, a wife, and a student at the same time. Some days are definitely easier than others, but I think that is also what makes the whole experience so interesting and worthwhile.

One of the things I really enjoy about Linnaeus University is how modern and international it feels. I have met people from so many different countries and backgrounds, and becoming a Student Ambassador has given me even more opportunities to meet a lot of people, take part in university activities, and share what student life in Sweden is actually like.

Taking a step further, I love baking and cake decorating, travelling, spending time with my family, and dreaming up new business ideas. I’m also learning Swedish every day, and some days I feel like I understand everything, while other days I wonder if I have ever studied Swedish at all! 😄 That’s what it takes to be a student in Sweden.

So through this blog, I want to share the real side of my experience; studying at LNU, living in Kalmar, being an international student, balancing studies and family life, discovering Sweden, and all the little moments that make this journey memorable.
